Passage309

Passage 309 defines an ecotourism crossborder area, covering the villages of Gambsheim, Kilstett and Offendorf on the french side, and the city of Rheinau on the german side.
The waterdam is located at the mileage point 309 at the Rhine river. It is an important crossing way with its bridge connecting France and Germany. With over  11 000 cars a day, and 80 000 visitors in a year, this dam is a major european crossroad for people, fish, birds and for wares transportation and inland navigation.

The surroundings of Passage309 have preserved the natural charm of the typical flat meadowy countryside of the Rhine valley.  The waterway accompanies marvelously the green and peaceful region, and the numerous hiking and cycling trails. Marinas, water activities and swimming possibilities are some of the trumps of Passage309.
